GUY Fawkes House was up for sale just days before figures of him will be burnt on Bonfire Night.
The historic house in Dunchurch (Guy Fawkes House, The Square, Dunchurch, Rugby CV22 6NU) was on the market for a guide price of 800,000.
Previously sold for £440,000 more than 10 years ago (19th Jul 2002)
A Grade II listed modernised home with cloakroom, drawing room, family room, cellar, six bedrooms, an office and three converted barns. With exposed beams and black and white timbered exterior promise a house full of history, with the plaque on the outside reading: “This is where the conspirators met on fifth November to await news of the destruction of Westminster”.
It was in the house, formally the red lion inn, that the conspirators met to hear if the plot was successful.
Now it is transformed into a charming private residence known as Guy Fawkes House.
Happy Guy Fawkes… Be safe…
